Calling All Veterans

August 6, 2020 : 6:00 am - 8:00 am

Virtual Calling All Veterans Day is an opportunity to receive information on resources and benefits from subject mater experts that will empower independent aging for Veterans of all eras, their spouses, or their aging parents. Originally scheduled to take place at the URI Ryan Center in the Spring, due to COVID, Virtual Calling All Veterans Day will be live streamed on RI Elder Info’s Facebook page and YouTube channel.  Subject matter experts will provide meaningful information to viewers. Speakers will answer your questions in real time. Any question that can’t be answered during the event will be followed up on. This is an opportunity for the community members to gather information and resources that empower their own independent aging.

Virtual Calling All Veterans Day will be an opportunity for over 9,000 WWII, Korean Veterans and their families, to learn what resources are available for themselves and their spouses to age independently.

Virtual Calling All Veterans Day will enable our 21,000 Vietnam Veterans to learn what regulations and benefits have been changed and updated since they returned home. Many will find they are now eligible for more services than they might expect.

Our younger Veterans,- 15,000+ Gulf War, Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation New Dawn, and Operation Enduring Freedom Veterans are returning home and finding themselves in the role of caregiver for aging parents.  Virtual Calling All Veterans Day is an opportunity for younger Veterans to learn about information and resources available to assist them as caregivers for aging parents.

Virtual Calling All Veterans Day is also an opportunity for our community to come together to support organizations that make sure our Veterans are not aging alone, in need of friendship, comradery or support.  There will be multiple organizations presenting that are seeking volunteers.

Live streaming begins at 10am on RI Elder Info’s Facebook page and Youtube Channel
