We aim to provide a platform to honor the CHW profession\, provide professional development\, and foster policy approaches that improve community health service delivery. This professional development opportunity is aligned with the core competency domains required for RI Certification. \n\n\n\nWhat to Expect \n\n\n\nDuring this day-long conference\, you’ll connect with fellow CHWs and explore interactive workshops and networking activities with partners. CHW leaders will facilitate the conference using content based on nationally recognized best practices. The conference has been designed around four key pillars to address the most pressing needs CHWs are facing : \n\n\n\n1. Self-care: Practice self-care in the face of structural challenges \n\n\n\nIdentify steps needed for self-care amidst the challenges that we face as CHWs. Find peace and balance through community grounding and protective practices. Address trauma using effective resources and principles that you can apply to your role as a community health worker. \n\n\n\n2. The CHW Profession: Amplify the value of the CHW Role \n\n\n\nDevelop your confidence and storytelling skills to amplify the value of the community health worker role. Discover how to recognize and leverage existing community resources to strengthen your impact and effectiveness. \n\n\n\n3. Resources: Collaborate to realize community resources more fully \n\n\n\nExplore the practice of authentic collaboration to ensure consistent access to essential community resources. Map community assets and find champions to understand the wrap-around systems needed for comprehensive care. \n\n\n\n4. Policy: Connect to drive meaningful action within your community and beyond \n\n\n\nLet’s work together to connect the dots and gain a deeper understanding of policy roles from the individual level to legislation. Map opportunities to provide CHW input on issues that matter. \n\n\n\nThis Event is Free! \n\n\n\nWe want this conference to be accessible to all community health workers in Rhode Island. As such\, the event is entirely free for attendees. Additionally\, parking vouchers will be provided for select area lots\, and the location is easily accessible via several RIPTA bus lines. \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThank you to our sponsors! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nThe Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) CHW Program is excited and proud to join other local partners in supporting this new initiative through its federal grant award from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Community Health Workers for COVID Response and Resilient Communities (CDC CCR Grant 2109). SUMMARY:CHW Networking Gathering with NAMI RI
DESCRIPTION:Do you work with clients that live with mental health conditions? \n\n\n\nDo you know which NAMI groups and classes you should refer them to? \n\n\n\nJoin CHWARI on 8/21 at noon to network with other CHWs and learn about the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). This gathering will be facilitated by Penny Ferrara\, manager of NAMI’s school and public education. She also teaches Peer to Peer classes. Her presentation will be followed by a Q &A and then 30 minutes of CHW networking! \n\n\n\n\nRegister\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nNAMI Rhode Island (the National Alliance on Mental Illness) offers programs for people affected by mental illness such as Connection support groups and Peer to Peer classes as well as support and classes for family members. \n\n\n\nThese Connection support groups offer a safe place with no judgement to share thoughts and feelings regarding mental illness. Participants can pass and just listen and they often find comfort in group wisdom. These groups on Zoom however there are a few that meet in person. \n\n\n\nOur Peer to Peer classes are facilitated by 2 people living well with their mental illness. Participants learn about the different psychiatric illness in great detail\, how the brain works\, positive coping skills and setting goals. \n\n\n\nThis gathering will be facilitated by Penny Ferrara\, manager of school and public education. SUMMARY:CCR Evaluation Webinar: Leading With Community Voice
DESCRIPTION:Leading With Community Voice: Strengthening Evaluation through Mixed Methods Approaches\, Cultural Relevance\, and Grassroots Efforts with Youth \n\n\n\nLiderazgo mediante la opinión de la comunidad: mejora de la evaluación por medio de métodos mixtos\, adecuación cultural y medidas fundamentales con los jóvenes. \n\n\n\nOn behalf of the CCR-ETA 2110 Evaluation Training and Technical Assistance providers\, the Washington State Evaluation Partnership (WSEP) invites CCR-2109 recipients and their partners to a webinar about embedding community voice and cultural relevance in every step of evaluation. We will examine the grassroots multimedia campaign #KEEPITRIGHT\, a youth-led COVID-19 prevention effort that has reached over 250\,000 people with a click-through rate four times the national average. This webinar will build on the earlier training about equitable evaluation\, community engagement\, and health literacy efforts that include populations that have been historically marginalized. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nregister now / regístrese ahora

SUMMARY:RI COVID-19 Response Evaluation - The CHW Experience
DESCRIPTION:Join the Rhode Island Department of Health for a “hotwash” session\, aimed at collecting input on the CHW experience during the COVID-19 pandemic. The goal is to help us be better prepared for a future emergency. This type of activity is a common tool used across the field of emergency response as a way to come together\, gain consensus on what happened\, and take steps to be more ready in the future. \n\n\n\nOur meeting will focus on the following: \n\n\n\n\nWhat Happened– this section will focus on just the facts and events that occurred\, making sure we have proper documentation of the timeline of events\n\n\n\nStrengths– this section will focus on strengths and successes of the response\n\n\n\nAreas of Improvement – this section will focus on what could have been done better\n\n\n\nBarriers and Challenges – this section will focus on what may have prevented certain things from happening that we could not have really done anything about\n\n\n\nRecommendations– this section will focus on general suggestions for achieving better outcomes in a future situation\n\n\n\n\nPlease feel free to forward this invitation to other Rhode Island CHWS who have been involved in the pandemic response. You are also welcome to forward to former team members that may have left your organization but hold important memories of our collective action to combat COVID-19 here in RI. The notes will be anonymized\, summarized\, and analyzed to create a report for RI leadership and the community. \n\n\n\n\nRegister Here\n\n\n\n\nIf you have trouble registering\, email Rein\, Blaise (RIDOH-Contractor) Blaise.Rein.CTR@health.ri.gov. \n\n\n\n\nZoom link
