DESCRIPTION:This session focuses on the background information needed for Health and Human Services professionals to become working allies to the Transgender and Gender Diverse community. Topics include respectful language\, implicit bias and identity\, health disparities\, and supportive resources for trans and nonbinary clients.  \n\n\n\nAt the conclusion of this session\, participants should have a better understanding of the experience of trans and nonbinary persons and be familiar with respectful and inclusive language appropriate for use in work settings. \n\n\n\nA certificate of completion will be provided to all participants that complete the session from BHHP . The certificate can be used to apply for CEUs for various disciples such as social work\, peer certification and more. \n\n\n\nTrainer: Quinten Foster\, MS (he/they) is the Director of Transgender Whole Healthcare at East Bay Community Action Program. They are a self-described “neurospicy” transmasculine nonbinary person with personal and professional experience in the mental health and DEIB fields. They combine their lived experience and formal education in Health Psychology to create engaging\, meaningful learning experiences focused on the power of story telling and human connection. DESCRIPTION:RI CCR CHWs are invited to join the next Community Health Worker (CHW) only Community of Practice (CoP) session on Thursday\, February 29\, 2024 1:30 PM-3:00 PM! The CHW CoP is designed to support connections\, relationship-building and peer-to-peer learning for CHWs.  The goal of the CHW CoP is to provide a space for CHWs to share ideas\, best practices and build individual and collective capacity for strengthening the CHW workforce in a way that lifts up and honors the lived and professional experiences of CHWs. SUMMARY:CHW Core Competency Training
DESCRIPTION:Get the training you need to apply for CHW Certification! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCHWARI’s FREE virtual Community Health Worker Core Competency Training is intended to prepare participants for entry-level CHW positions in community-based social service\, healthcare and behavioral health settings. Its 12 modules are each aligned with a set of competencies defined by the Rhode Island Certification Board. Each module includes 3 hours of live zoom training plus 3 hours of training activities\, for a total of 72 training hours\, fulfilling the 70-hour requirement for RI CHW certification.  Applicants must be fluent in English.  \n\n\n\nThis CHW Core Training will run over ZOOM on Friday mornings\, 9:30am (ET) to 12:30pm (ET)\, from April 19 through July 12\, 2024. *Please note that this training has different weekly hours than our past core trainings.  This is 3 hours each week of zoom class and 3 hours a week of “homework.”*   \n\n\n\n\n\nThis is a great time to apply for this training as participants will be encouraged to apply to our CHW Apprenticeship Program. This is an opportunity for new CHWs seeking certification to receive extra guidance\, training\, and monetary stipends. This training made me feel more comfortable with my engagement skills.”– Katie Gonzalez\, CCHW\, CPRS \n\n\n\nThis entry level curriculum will provide specialized training for community health workers serving people living with\, at risk for\, and impacted by HIV/AIDS. It is open to certified CHWs who are fluent in English.  \n\n\n\nModules include: \n\n\n\n\nHIV Testing\, Antiretroviral Therapy\n\n\n\nClient Engagement and Motivational Interviewing\n\n\n\nSocial Determinants\, Special Populations & Stigma\n\n\n\nBehavioral Health (mental health\, substance use\, domestic violence\, grief & loss)\n\n\n\nCultural Humility and Advocacy\n\n\n\nHIV Public Health Policies\n\n\n\nEthics\, Professional Burnout/Stress\, Self-Awareness and Self-Care\n\n\n\n\nThis 45 hour virtual training takes place over 12 weeks\, with 36 hours live class time over zoom and nine hours of homework. This qualifies graduates to apply for RI Certification Board’s Specialty Endorsement in HIV.  Applicants must hold a current\, valid and in good standing credential through RICB (like a CHW Certification) or a health care practitioner certification/license. \n\n\n\nThe development of this curriculum was made possible with Co-Exist funding through the Executive Office of Health and Human Services (OHHS)\, Ryan White Division. SUMMARY:Interpersonal Violence Training for CHWs
DESCRIPTION:Interpersonal Violence Training for CHWsMay 8\, 15\, 22\, 29 & June 5\, 2024Wednesday evenings\, 6-9pmIn-person at Rhode Island College plus 15 hours of self-paced assignments \n\n\n\nDo you feel prepared to support a victim of interpersonal violence after disclosure? Do you know the best trauma-informed practices? \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis 30 hour training will aid community health workers in addressing interpersonal violence experienced by clients and help them to access community resources. This course will prepare community health workers with the skills needed to be a victim service advocate. Lisa Hoopis\, Director of Education and Training at Sojourner House\, will instruct. \n\n\n\nTraining includes information on: \n\n\n\n\n\n\nDomestic violence\n\n\n\nSexual assault\n\n\n\nHuman trafficking\n\n\n\nBoundaries\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTrauma-informed care\n\n\n\nSafety planning\n\n\n\nCrisis intervention\n\n\n\nAnd more\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTraining will include guest speakers\, videos\, case studies\, group work\, and role plays. Fifteen hours will be in person at Rhode Island College and 15 hours will be synchronous. Lisa has taught in various departments\, as an adjunct faculty at Rhode Island College since 2014.  \n\n\n\nLisa is a former undergraduate and graduate student at Rhode Island College and is the former Director of the RIC Women’s Center. Lisa is currently a doctoral student at Johnson and Wales in Educational Leadership. Lisa works closely with school districts and agencies to provide professional and youth development\, training\, consultations\, curriculum development\, and assistance in setting up peer education and advocacy programs.  \n\n\n\nShe is a co-founder and active member of the RI HIV STI prevention coalition and an active member of the RI Cross Campus Collaborative to prevent sexual assault on campus. Lisa is a certified curriculum developer\, trainer\, and evaluator for the VAWA police academy and is co-chair of the RI crime victim service providers. However\, it was her innate passion for population-based interventions and moral duty that led her to join the non-profit sector during the heightened of the SARS-19; while also working at nights as a Neuroscience Research Assistant at Brown. While fulfilling her duties as a Project Coordinator for the 02907 Health Equity Zone (HEZ); Ámbar had the opportunity to witness first-hand the impact and importance of Community Health Workers (CHWs) when delivery evidence-based approaches to increase Health Equity. DESCRIPTION:Office of Health Aging Presents: Community Health Worker Older Adult Training \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis training targets individuals who are certified as CHWs or are working toward CHW certification. Please join us for this specialized training for Community Health Workers who are interested in serving older adults in the state of RI.  \n\n\n\nThis training is supported by the Rhode Island Office of Healthy Aging with ARPA funding  from the U.S. Health and Human Services’ Administration for Community Living. \n\n\n\nAll participants who successfully complete the full training will receive a $350 stipend and RI College certificate of completion. The training is provided by RI College and includes: \n\n\n\n\n Building Holistic Relationship with Older Adults (35-hours) a RICB Specialization\n\n\n\n Dementia Competent Practice: Promoting Dignity & Person-Centered Care (5-hours).\n\n\n\n\n\nShare Flyer\n\n\n\nApply\n\n\n\n\nThe training will be delivered over a six-week period: 5 in-person session and 1 online session. The in-person sessions will be held at RI College’s Alger Hall\, room 107 (morning and lunch refreshments will be provided). Classes will meet on Saturdays from 9am – 3pm (see the schedule below): \n\n\n\n\nAugust 24\, 2024 9am – 3pm in-person\n\n\n\nAugust 31\, 2024 and September 7\, 2024 no in-person classes; participants complete online work •  \n\n\n\nSeptember 14\, 2024 9am – 3pm in-person \n\n\n\nSeptember 21\, 2024 9am – 3pm in-person\n\n\n\nSeptember 28\, 2024 9am – 3pm in-person \n\n\n\nOctober 5\, 2024 9am – 3pm in-person\n\n\n\n\nUpon completing the training\, participants will increase their understanding of: \n\n\n\n\nCommunity Health Workers (CHWs)\, Aging & the Workforce\n\n\n\nSociological Contexts of Aging: Obstacles & Opportunities\n\n\n\nPractice Perspectives: Building Partnerships that Empower\n\n\n\nSocial Determinants of Health & Aging: Obstacles & Opportunities\n\n\n\nThreats to Healthy Aging: Behavioral Health Challenges & Dementia (5-hours)\n\n\n\nHealthy Aging\n\n\n\nEmpowering Partnerships & Resource Navigation\n\n\n\n\nIn support of building the CHW Workforce in the field of aging\, this training program will support applications and fees for certifications for Community Health Worker and Older Adults Specialization. \n\n\n\nPlease submit your application by August 20th. Diving deeper into the concept of self-compassion\, participants gain a better understanding of their personal self-compassion skills by completing an evidence-based assessment. Suicide is a preventable public health problem and prevention depends in large part on appropriate screening and response. In order for school districts to meet the guidelines set forth within the Nathan Bruno and Jason Flatt Act\, The Bradley Learning Exchange has developed the Suicide: Prevention\, Screening and Response training specifically geared to-wards educational settings for individuals who do not have a background in behavioral health. \n\n\n\n\nRegister\n\n\n\n\nThe room number\, parking pass and campus map will be emailed to registrants 1 day before.
