DESCRIPTION:October 7th – November 29th\n\n\n\nTuesdays 6-8pm\, Fridays* 9:30-11:30am\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe FREE Community Health Worker Core Competency Training is intended to prepare participants for entry-level CHW positions in community-based social service\, healthcare and behavioral health settings. Its 12 modules are each aligned with a set of competencies defined by the Rhode Island Certification Board. Each module includes 2 hours of live zoom training plus 4 hours of training activities\, for a total of 72 training hours\, fulfilling the 70-hour requirement for RI CHW certification. DESCRIPTION:Promoting CHW Self-Care: Prioritizing CHWs While Taking Care of the CommunityDuring the COVID-19 pandemic\, mental health care needs have reached an all-time high. Community Health Workers support communities while being tasked to attend to their own mental health needs. Often community needs are the priority. This webinar will provide hands-on tools for CHWs to practice self-care and self-compassion while giving programs tools to elevate the visibility of this crucial component of the work. Burnout prevention benefits from individual’s caring for themselves with in a supportive system. DESCRIPTION:How can environmental education better embrace environmental justice education to foster a critical understanding of the environment within the context of human political and social actions? Many marginalized communities experiencing environmental injustices are also those most vulnerable to the effects of the climate crisis. Environmental educators have a unique opportunity to empower communities living within impacted areas to take a stand for justice with the tools necessary to make change. Environmental educators can also educate those outside of impacted areas to stand up for global environmental justice.
