DESCRIPTION:Rates of routine childhood vaccinations have fallen.  \n\n\n\nHelp prevent outbreaks of life-threatening diseases like polio and measles in the U.S.  \n\n\n\nEffective Vaccine Advocacy: Protect your Community’s Health \n\n\n\nAn ECHO for CHW’s & EMS professionals \n\n\n\nTwo Sessions:  Tuesdays March 28 & April 4\, 9:00-10:00 am \n\n\n\nNationwide\, there has been a decrease in immunization rates among young children over the past few years\, with many children falling behind. This likely has several causes\, including barriers to medical care that were worsened during the pandemic\, the spread of mis- and disinformation\, and a loss of confidence in immunizations. DESCRIPTION:The 2-part series is called LGBTQ+ Healthcare for CHWs: Allyship as Primary Prevention. Session one will take place over Zoom on 4/5.  Session two will take place in person at East Bay Community Action Program in Riverside\, RI on April 12. You must attend session one to keep a spot in session two.  \n\n\n\nSession 1 – zoom\n\n\n\nThe first session is a virtual meeting focused on mostly didactic learning. It will be hosted on zoom 4/5/23 from 9-10am\, with additional Q&A time from 10-10:30am. Quinten Foster\, MS\, Director of Transgender Whole Health at EBCAP will present.  After the first session\, participants will  \n\n\n\n\nBe familiar with the terminology associated with LGBTQ+ Healthcare and Intimate Partner Violence Prevention\n\n\n\nWill identify and understand common SDoH and other societal factors that lead to poor physical\, emotional\, and interpersonal health in the LGBQ+ and Transgender communities\n\n\n\nWill identify interpersonal and systems-level strategies for staff advocacy and allyship on behalf of LGBTQ+ patients. \n\n\n\n\nIntended Audience:\n\n\n\nThis event is designed with the various roles of community health workers in mind. She and her husband Dale attended NAMI-RI Family to Family class and maintained a support group from that class for 15 years. Phyllis participated in three national NAMI conferences. Continuing to expand her knowledge of mental illness and current research. Because advocacy has been a strong personal mission\, Phyllis regularly submits written and oral testimony at the state\, national\, and governmental levels. As a member of the Providence Clubhouse Development Committee\, she was instrumental in the establishment of Harbor House and supports Oasis Wellness & Recovery Centers of Rhode Island. Prior to retirement\, Phyllis was involved in the field of language education as a teacher\, editor and consultant. SUMMARY:HIV Endorsement Training for CHWs
DESCRIPTION:May 4th- July 27th\, Thursdays from 1-4pm*\n\n\n\n*There is no class on May 11th. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis entry level curriculum will provide specialized training for community health workers serving people living with\, at risk for\, and impacted by HIV/AIDS. \n\n\n\nModules include: \n\n\n\n\nHIV Testing\, Antiretroviral Therapy\n\n\n\nClient Engagement and Motivational Interviewing\n\n\n\nSocial Determinants\, Special Populations & Stigma\n\n\n\nBehavioral Health (mental health\, substance use\, domestic violence\, grief and loss)\n\n\n\nCultural Humility and Advocacy\n\n\n\nHIV Public Health Policies\n\n\n\nEthics\, Professional Burnout/Stress\, Self-Awareness and Self-Care\n\n\n\n\nThis 45 hour virtual training takes place over 12 weeks\, with 36 hours live class time over zoom and nine hours of homework. This qualifies graduates to apply for RI Certification Board’s specialty endorsement in HIV.  Applicants must hold a current\, valid and in good standing credential through RICB (like a CHW Certification) or a health care practitioner certification/license. Deoshore F.
