DESCRIPTION:Lead poisoning is a serious environmental justice\, tenants’ rights\, and public health issue. Lead exposure at any level can cause permanent effects in children and adults. SUMMARY:Older Adults & Dementia Care Training
DESCRIPTION:Office of Health Aging Presents: Community Health Worker Older Adult Training \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis training targets individuals who are certified as CHWs or are working toward CHW certification. Please join us for this specialized training for Community Health Workers who are interested in serving older adults in the state of RI.  \n\n\n\nThis training is supported by the Rhode Island Office of Healthy Aging with ARPA funding  from the U.S. Health and Human Services’ Administration for Community Living. \n\n\n\nAll participants who successfully complete the full training will receive a $350 stipend and RI College certificate of completion. The training is provided by RI College and includes: \n\n\n\n\n Building Holistic Relationship with Older Adults (35-hours) a RICB Specialization\n\n\n\n Dementia Competent Practice: Promoting Dignity & Person-Centered Care (5-hours).\n\n\n\n\n\nShare Flyer\n\n\n\nApply\n\n\n\n\nThe training will be delivered over a six-week period: 5 in-person session and 1 online session. The in-person sessions will be held at RI College’s Alger Hall\, room 107 (morning and lunch refreshments will be provided). DESCRIPTION:Lifespan Community Health AmbassadorsVirtual Lecture \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIncarceration is a Determinant of Health \n\n\n\nPresented by Heather Gaydos\, MSW\, Senior Project Director\, Center for Health and Justice Transformation\, and local subject matter expert in the field of reentry \n\n\n\nApproximately one in three Rhode Islanders have a criminal record. Research indicates that a criminal record worsens health outcomes\, creates barriers to obtaining safe housing and employment\, disrupts healthy family relationships\, and places additional financial burdens on people who are likely to have limited or no income. This presentation will help attendees understand why incarceration is a social determinant of health. \n\n\n\n\nRegister\n\n\n\n\nAttendees will gain better understanding of: \n\n\n\n\nthe criminal legal system and the history of mass criminalization in the US\n\n\n\nhow incarceration is a social determinant of health\n\n\n\nhow to advocate for and support clients who are navigating the collateral consequences of criminal legal system involvement.\n\n\n\n\nLocation: This lecture will be provided through Zoom. DESCRIPTION:Emergency Preparedness & Response Training\n\n\n\nOctober 15-24\, 2024 \n\n\n\nThe Mission of the RI Center for Emergency Preparedness and Response is to create and promote a state of readiness and prompt response to protect the health of Rhode Islanders during catastrophic events\, large-scale disasters\, and other types of emergencies. This free\, eight hour training will use their resources to inform CHWs on how their clients and organizations should prepare for emergencies.  \n\n\n\nLearning objectives:  \n\n\n\n\nModule 1: Intro to Public Health & Emergency Management\n\n\n\nModule 2: Personal Preparedness\n\n\n\nModule 3: Emergency Response\n\n\n\nModule 4: Recovery\n\n\n\n\nThis course is virtual.
