SUMMARY:CHW Core Competency Training
DESCRIPTION:Course Dates:May 12th- July 28thTuesdays\, 5:30-8:30pmOver Zoom \n\n\n\nGet the training you need to apply for CHW Certification! \n\n\n\nCHWARI’s FREE virtual Community Health Worker Core Competency Training is intended to prepare participants for entry-level CHW positions in community-based social service\, healthcare and behavioral health settings. Its 12 modules are each aligned with a set of competencies defined by the Rhode Island Certification Board. Each module includes 3 hours of live zoom training plus 3 hours of training activities\, for a total of 72 training hours\, fulfilling the 70-hour requirement for RI CHW certification. Applicants must be fluent in English.  \n\n\n\nThis CHW Core Training will run over ZOOM on Tuesday evenings\, 5:30pm to 8:30pm from May 12-July 28\, 2026.  *Please note that this training has different weekly hours than some of our past core trainings. This is 3 hours each week of zoom class and 3 hours a week of “homework.”* ATTENDANCE IS REQUIRED AT ALL ZOOM SESSIONS. \n\n\n\nSee the Core Competencies of a Community Health Worker here. \n\n\n\nLearn about getting your Community Health Worker Certification here. \n\n\n\n\nApply Now\n\n\n\n\nThe deadline for the application is May 4\, 2026 by 4:00 pm\, though the application will likely close earlier due to high demand. DESCRIPTION:Learn How to Apply for Certification! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBegin preparing your CHW application\, including portfolio\, for submission to the RI Certification Board. \n\n\n\nIf you have already taken a Community Health Worker training and want guidance on applying for CHW certification in RI\, this workshop is for you! This free virtual workshop will give advice\, clarity and facts about preparing your portfolio. Please note: CHWARI does not provide the certification itself; that authority resides with the RI Certification Board. DESCRIPTION:CHWARI-Sponsored Ethics Training 6/10!   \n\n\n\nOver the years CHWARI members have expressed that it is difficult to find the appropriate and affordable ethics training necessary to meet the RICB requirement for CHW recertification.  In response to that demand\, CHWARI is thrilled to be sponsoring our first Ethics training\, FREE for our members.   \n\n\n\n——————————————————- \n\n\n\nEthics in Action™: Transform. Empower. Lead.\n\n\n\nJune 10th | 5:00 PM – 8:00 PMIn-person at Rhode Island College \n\n\n\nEthics matter — and the impact of Community Health Workers matters even more. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEthics in Action™ is a transformational professional development experience created by RI Independent Community Health Works (RIICHW™) and facilitated by founder and CEO Koren Carbuccia. Designed specifically for Community Health Workers and frontline professionals\, this immersive in-person training strengthens ethical leadership\, communication\, professional boundaries\, advocacy\, and real-world decision-making skills essential to today’s evolving healthcare and community landscape. \n\n\n\n\nGrounded in trauma-informed practice\, cultural humility\, and healthcare-aligned workforce development\, participants will engage in dynamic Rhode Island-based case studies\, reflective discussion\, leadership exercises\, and practical strategies that can be immediately applied within both healthcare and community settings. \n\n\n\nThis is more than an ethics training — it is an opportunity to elevate the work\, strengthen leadership capacity\, and empower CHWs with the confidence\, tools\, and professional insight needed to create lasting impact in the communities they serve. \n\n\n\nSpots are limited to 30 CHWs.
