DESCRIPTION:October 7th – November 29th\n\n\n\nTuesdays 6-8pm\, Fridays* 9:30-11:30am\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe FREE Community Health Worker Core Competency Training is intended to prepare participants for entry-level CHW positions in community-based social service\, healthcare and behavioral health settings. Its 12 modules are each aligned with a set of competencies defined by the Rhode Island Certification Board. Each module includes 2 hours of live zoom training plus 4 hours of training activities\, for a total of 72 training hours\, fulfilling the 70-hour requirement for RI CHW certification. A wide range of services is organized within a comprehensive therapeutic environment that include medication-assisted treatment\, Intensive Outpatient Treatment\, Mental Health Treatment and Primary Care services. Lisa Peterson\, LMHC/LCDP/LCDS/MAC\, Chief Operating Officer at VICTA\, has extensive experience with policy and legislative work focused on behavioral health issues in Rhode Island. She is also the co-founder and co-chair of the Substance Use Policy\, Education\, and Recovery PAC where she has had extensive experience working for policy and legislation that aligns with current knowledge and best practices in addressing substance use and substance use disorders and serves on the Public Policy Committee for NAADAC.PLEE – PLEE (Parents Leading for Educational Equity) is an organization that was founded and is led by parents\, and knows first-hand the injustices that the education system inflicts upon children. Community Health Workers support communities while being tasked to attend to their own mental health needs. Often community needs are the priority. This webinar will provide hands-on tools for CHWs to practice self-care and self-compassion while giving programs tools to elevate the visibility of this crucial component of the work. Burnout prevention benefits from individual’s caring for themselves with in a supportive system.
