This training made me feel more comfortable with my engagement skills.”- Katie Gonzalez\, CCHW\, CPRS \n\n\n\nThis entry level curriculum will provide specialized training for community health workers serving people living with\, at risk for\, and impacted by HIV/AIDS. \n\n\n\nModules include: \n\n\n\n\nHIV Testing\, Antiretroviral Therapy\n\n\n\nClient Engagement and Motivational Interviewing\n\n\n\nSocial Determinants\, Special Populations & Stigma\n\n\n\nBehavioral Health (mental health\, substance use\, domestic violence\, grief & loss)\n\n\n\nCultural Humility and Advocacy\n\n\n\nHIV Public Health Policies\n\n\n\nEthics\, Professional Burnout/Stress\, Self-Awareness and Self-Care\n\n\n\n\nThis 45 hour virtual training takes place over 12 weeks\, with 36 hours live class time over zoom and nine hours of homework. This qualifies graduates to apply for RI Certification Board’s Specialty Endorsement in HIV.  Applicants must hold a current\, valid and in good standing credential through RICB (like a CHW Certification) or a health care practitioner certification/license. \n\n\n\nThe development of this curriculum was made possible with Co-Exist funding through the Executive Office of Health and Human Services (OHHS)\, Ryan White Division. DESCRIPTION:January 22- April 16\, 2025Wednesdays 5:30-8:30pmVirtual over Zoom \n\n\n\nGet the training you need to apply for CHW Certification!  \n\n\n\nCHWARI’s FREE virtual Community Health Worker Core Competency Training is intended to prepare participants for entry-level CHW positions in community-based social service\, healthcare and behavioral health settings. Its 12 modules are each aligned with a set of competencies defined by the Rhode Island Certification Board. Each module includes 3 hours of live zoom training plus 3 hours of training activities\, for a total of 72 training hours\, fulfilling the 70-hour requirement for RI CHW certification.  Applicants must be fluent in English.  \n\n\n\nThis CHW Core Training will run over ZOOM on Wednesday evenings\, 5:30pm to 8:30pm from January 22\, 2025 to April 16.   *Please note that this training has different weekly hours than our past core trainings. DESCRIPTION:Every 11 minutes\, someone in the United States dies by suicide. Suicide is a preventable public health problem and prevention depends in large part on appropriate screening and response. This comprehensive program spans two days in person\, totaling 9 hours with a virtual assessment via zoom (to be scheduled on the last day of class). It is designed to enhance participants’ skills in asthma education\, empowering them to better support patients and help reduce emergency department and hospital visits. Participants will review concepts such as addiction\, dependence\, and general signs and symptoms of substance use. Learners will have the opportunity to review the four most frequently misused substances\, signs of overdose and useful evidence-based interventions. This training will conclude with sharing information with participants on the stigma and barriers associated with substance use. \n\n\n\nCertificates of completion will be provided to participants. \n\n\n\n\nRegister

SUMMARY:Mental Health First Aid (In-Person)
DESCRIPTION:Please join the Institute for Education in Healthcare on 3/14/2025 from 8:00am – 4:00 pm on the RIC campus as we join with our colleagues from the Bradley Learning Exchange for this in-person training.  \n\n\n\nMental Health First Aid for Adults is an eight-hour course that gives people the skills to help someone who is developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. The evidence behind the program demonstrates that it does build mental health literacy\, helping the public identify\, understand\, and respond to signs of mental illness. Trainees are taught how to apply the five-step action plan in a variety of situations such as helping someone through a panic attack\, engaging with someone who may be suicidal\, or assisting an individual who has overdosed. An important component of the mental health first aid course is the opportunity to practice the intervention strategy rather than to just learn about it. This simple experience can make it easier to actually apply the knowledge in a real-life situation. \n\n\n\n Certificates of completion will be provided to participants after the training.  \n\n\n\n\nRegister
