DESCRIPTION:Care Transformation Collaborative-RI is excited to announce that the November 9th\, Subject Matter Expert Session will focus on Advocacy and Policy in RI. CHWs are welcome to attend.  The panel will host representatives from the following  organizations: \n\n\n\nChildhood Lead Action Project – Founded in 1992 by parents\, medical professionals\, and social justice activists\, the Childhood Lead Action Project is a non-profit organization dedicated to eliminating childhood lead poisoning in Rhode Island through parent support\, community-based education\, and grassroots advocacy.  Follow their Facebook for up to date events\, news and informationVICTA – VICTA provides care in an outpatient clinic setting. A wide range of services is organized within a comprehensive therapeutic environment that include medication-assisted treatment\, Intensive Outpatient Treatment\, Mental Health Treatment and Primary Care services. Lisa Peterson\, LMHC/LCDP/LCDS/MAC\, Chief Operating Officer at VICTA\, has extensive experience with policy and legislative work focused on behavioral health issues in Rhode Island. She is also the co-founder and co-chair of the Substance Use Policy\, Education\, and Recovery PAC where she has had extensive experience working for policy and legislation that aligns with current knowledge and best practices in addressing substance use and substance use disorders and serves on the Public Policy Committee for NAADAC.PLEE – PLEE (Parents Leading for Educational Equity) is an organization that was founded and is led by parents\, and knows first-hand the injustices that the education system inflicts upon children. PLEE is committed to design spaces where families are at the center and drive every decision we make. SUMMARY:CHW Certification Application Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Become Certified as a CHW!\n\n\n\nBegin preparing your application\, including portfolio\, for submission to the RI Certification Board \n\n\n\nVirtual over Zoom.  \n\n\n\nIf you have already taken a Community Health Worker training and want guidance on applying for CHW certification in RI\, this workshop is for you!  This free virtual workshop will give advice\, clarity and facts about preparing your portfolio. Please note:  CHWARI does not provide the certification itself; that authority resides with the RI Certification Board. This workshop will provide basic guidance but will refer you to the RICB for more complex questions. \n\n\n\nCertification (or a plan with your employer to get it) is necessary for getting Medicaid reimbursement for your CHW services\, so register today!  \n\n\n\n*This workshop is open to those who: \n\n\n\n\nhave completed 70 hours of Core Competency CHW Training\, or who are currently enrolled in a training program that will result in meeting that requirement (having applied for such a training does not count\, but we will have other workshops in the future)\n\n\n\nare employed as CHWs or who have completed 1000 hours of CHW work in recent years\n\n\n\nhave completed (or close to) 50 hours of supervised CHW work\n\n\n\n\nIf you have not yet completed Core Competency CHW Training\, join the Community Health Worker Association of RI here to learn about upcoming training opportunities. \n\n\n\nRegister for this workshop here.  \n\n\n\nPlease email joinchwari@gmail.com with any questions. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister
