DESCRIPTION:“Building Holistic Partnerships with Older Adults:  A Community Health Work\, Person-Centered & Social Determinants of Health Approach” Training for certification in the Specialty of Older Adults.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe virtual Older Adults Training will run over Zoom on Thursdays\, from 5:30pm – 8:30pm\, from May 18 through July 13\, 2023. After a hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic\, the conference has returned to offer a full day of in-person education\, resources\, and shared best practices. This is the 6th Rhode Island Trans Health Conference dedicated to enhancing the health and well-being of the transgender and gender diverse (TGD) community. The conference will provide interactive\, evidenced-based learning for medical and behavioral health professionals across the care continuum to increase comfortability and confidence in providing quality care for all TGD individuals. This free virtual workshop will give advice\, clarity and facts about preparing your portfolio. Please note: CHWARI does not provide the certification itself; that authority resides with the RI Certification Board. The goal is to help us be better prepared for a future emergency. This type of activity is a common tool used across the field of emergency response as a way to come together\, gain consensus on what happened\, and take steps to be more ready in the future. \n\n\n\nOur meeting will focus on the following: \n\n\n\n\nWhat Happened– this section will focus on just the facts and events that occurred\, making sure we have proper documentation of the timeline of events\n\n\n\nStrengths– this section will focus on strengths and successes of the response​\n\n\n\nAreas of Improvement – this section will focus on what could have been done better​\n\n\n\nBarriers and Challenges – this section will focus on what may have prevented certain things from happening that we could not have really done anything about​\n\n\n\nRecommendations– this section will focus on general suggestions for achieving better outcomes in a future situation\n\n\n\n\nPlease feel free to forward this invitation to other Rhode Island CHWS who have been involved in the pandemic response. We will examine the grassroots multimedia campaign #KEEPITRIGHT\, a youth-led COVID-19 prevention effort that has reached over 250\,000 people with a click-through rate four times the national average. Examples of Neurodivergence include ADHD\, Autism\, Bipolar\, Personality Disorders\, Schizophrenia\, Chronic Anxiety & Depression\, Cerebral Palsy\, Seizures and more. \n\n\n\nCo-founders Casey Gallagher and Tara Boulais will be presenting. SUMMARY:CHW Networking Gathering with NAMI RI
DESCRIPTION:Do you work with clients that live with mental health conditions? \n\n\n\nDo you know which NAMI groups and classes you should refer them to?   \n\n\n\nJoin CHWARI on 8/21 at noon to network with other CHWs and learn about the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). This gathering will be facilitated by Penny Ferrara\, manager of NAMI’s school and public education. She has over 15 years working at NAMI RI educating various groups in the general public and in schools on recognizing the signs and symptoms of mental illness and suicide\, how stigma can often prevent people from seeking help and the importance of learning positive coping skills. She also teaches Peer to Peer classes.  Her presentation will be followed by a Q &A and then 30 minutes of CHW networking!   \n\n\n\n\nRegister\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nNAMI Rhode Island (the National Alliance on Mental Illness) offers programs for people affected by mental illness such as Connection support groups and Peer to Peer classes as well as support and classes for family members. \n\n\n\nThese Connection support groups offer a safe place with no judgement to share thoughts and feelings regarding mental illness. Participants can pass and just listen and they often find comfort in group wisdom. These groups on Zoom however there are a few that meet in person. \n\n\n\nOur Peer to Peer classes are facilitated by 2 people living well with their mental illness. Participants learn about the different psychiatric illness in great detail\, how the brain works\, positive coping skills and setting goals. \n\n\n\nThis gathering will be facilitated by Penny Ferrara\, manager of school and public education. She has over 15 years working at NAMI RI educating various groups in the general public and in schools on recognizing the signs and symptoms of mental illness and suicide\, how stigma can often prevent people from seeking help and the importance of learning positive coping skills.
