Diving deeper into the concept of self-compassion\, participants gain a better understanding of their personal self-compassion skills by completing an evidence-based assessment. DESCRIPTION:Full Info\n\n\n\n\nCall for Applications:2025 Community Health Worker (CHW) or Medical Assistant Asthma Training Program \n\n\n\nIntroduction:The Care Transformation Collaborative of Rhode Island (CTC-RI)\, in partnership with the Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH)\, is excited to offer up to 15 Community Health Workers the opportunity to participate in the Asthma Basics Training Program. This comprehensive program spans two days in person\, totaling 9 hours with a virtual assessment via zoom (to be scheduled on the last day of class). It is designed to enhance participants’ skills in asthma education\, empowering them to better support patients and help reduce emergency department and hospital visits. Please note that completion of this training is a prerequisite for the upcoming Asthma Home Visiting Training\, which will be available in Spring 2025. \n\n\n\nGoal:The goal of the Asthma Basics Training Program is to prepare entry-level community health workers (CHW) or Medical Assistants to effectively provide basic asthma management education. \n\n\n\nWho can apply: \n\n\n\n\nCommunity health workers\n\n\n\nPatient care navigators\n\n\n\nFamily specialists\n\n\n\nMedical assistants\n\n\n\nApplicants can be working within primary care practices\, community based organizations\, managed care organizations or be working independently.\n\n\n\n\nSpecific Aims: \n\n\n\n\nEnsure community health workers receive a consistent high-quality curriculum by using an effective\, nationally recognized asthma training program in Rhode Island (with program costs covered by the Rhode Island Department of Health)\n\n\n\nFacilitate community health worker’s communication with clinical mentors for professional development.\n\n\n\n\nFormat:  \n\n\n\nTraining course will take place on over the course of two days in person on Feb 5\, 2025 and Feb 6\, 2025 with a snow date of Feb 13\, 2025 at CTC-RI at 235 Promenade St Providence\, RI 02908. \n\n\n\nApplications due: January 17\, 2024 \n\n\n\n\nFull Info\n\n\n\n\n\nApply here

DESCRIPTION:Rhode Island College’s Institute for Education in Healthcare presents this FREE autism-thinking training\, led by instructors from the Bradley Hospital Learning Exchange. \n\n\n\nAutism Thinking: Understanding the Core Challenges of ASD and How to Support an Individual Across the Day \n\n\n\n“Autism Thinking” is designed to inform participants of the neurodevelopmental characteristics of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Topics include\, but are not limited to: Executive Functioning\, Context Blindness\, Theory of Mind\, Central Coherence\, Joint Attention\, and One-Channel Processing. An understanding of these characteristics and challenges arms participants with the knowledge required to support individuals with ASD in their daily lives (in the classroom\, in the home\, or in the community). DESCRIPTION:(See other dates here.) \n\n\n\nLearn How to Apply for Certification! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBegin preparing your CHW application\, including portfolio\, for submission to the RI Certification Board. \n\n\n\nIf you have already taken a Community Health Worker training and want guidance on applying for CHW certification in RI\, this workshop is for you! This free virtual workshop will give advice\, clarity and facts about preparing your portfolio. Please note: CHWARI does not provide the certification itself; that authority resides with the RI Certification Board. DESCRIPTION:Rhode Island College’s Institute for Education in Healthcare presents this FREE trauma-informed care training\, led by instructors from the Bradley Hospital Learning Exchange. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis class caps at 20 attendees.   Room number\, parking pass and campus map will be emailed to registrants 2 business days prior to the event. Certificates of completion will be provided to participants. \n\n\n\nPlease join us on 2/28/2025 from 9:00am – 12pm at Rhode Island College as we join with our colleagues from the Bradley Learning Exchange for this in-person training.  \n\n\n\nThis training explores the consequences that exposure to trauma and adverse childhood experiences have on the lives of individuals and families. The presentation focuses on identifying different types of trauma/adversities; understanding common reactions to trauma; learning about the impact of trauma on brain development; and the influence of culture on trauma. Helpful strategies to utilize when working with and interacting with individuals who have been impacted by trauma will be explored.
