Diving deeper into the concept of self-compassion\, participants gain a better understanding of their personal self-compassion skills by completing an evidence-based assessment. DESCRIPTION:April 5 through May 3\, 2025 \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWorking with Schools to Support Youth Mental Health\n\n\n\nThis 30-hour training will prepare you to build effective partnerships to support student mental health in partnership with schools and families. Participants will learn about current issues\, roles and responsibilities\, laws\, policies\, and procedures\, and practices that support strong working relationships between providers in and outside of schools. \n\n\n\nParticipants will work together to develop shared understanding of the role of the various professionals and to develop and share practice strategies that can support their work with youth\, families\, and schools.  It takes place over five sessions\, some in-person at Rhode Island College\, and some over zoom. DESCRIPTION:Please join the Institute for Education in Healthcare on 4/11/25 from 9:00am – 12pm at Rhode Island College with our colleagues from the Bradley Learning Exchange for this in-person training.  \n\n\n\nThis training explores the consequences that exposure to trauma and adverse childhood experiences have on the lives of individuals and families. The presentation focuses on identifying different types of trauma/adversities; understanding common reactions to trauma; learning about the impact of trauma on brain development; and the influence of culture on trauma. Helpful strategies to utilize when working with and interacting with individuals who have been impacted by trauma will be explored. While CHWARI does not have another core training scheduled at this time – please see this page for other training entities in Rhode Island. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nApril 15-July 1\, 2025Tuesdays 6-9pmVirtual over Zoom \n\n\n\nGet the training you need to apply for CHW Certification! \n\n\n\nCHWARI’s FREE virtual Community Health Worker Core Competency Training is intended to prepare participants for entry-level CHW positions in community-based social service\, healthcare and behavioral health settings. Its 12 modules are each aligned with a set of competencies defined by the Rhode Island Certification Board. Each module includes 3 hours of live zoom training plus 3 hours of training activities\, for a total of 72 training hours\, fulfilling the 70-hour requirement for RI CHW certification. Applicants must be fluent in English.  \n\n\n\nThis CHW Core Training will run over ZOOM on Tuesday evenings\, April 15th through July 1st\, 2025 from 6-9pm.  *Please note that this training has different weekly hours than our past core trainings. This is 3 hours each week of zoom class and 3 hours a week of “homework.”*  There is an orientation on April 8th at 6pm.  \n\n\n\nSee the Core Competencies of a Community Health Worker here. \n\n\n\nLearn about getting your Community Health Worker Certification here. \n\n\n\nApplication deadline is March 28th\, 2025 at noon – but apply ASAP as spots are limited and applications are considered in the order they are received. This free virtual workshop will give advice\, clarity and facts about preparing your portfolio. English and Spanish workshops will take place a the same time\, in different breakout rooms.  Please note: CHWARI does not provide the certification itself; that authority resides with the RI Certification Board. DESCRIPTION:April 30\, 2025  \n\n\n\n9am-10:30am   \n\n\n\nZoom link will be sent 1 day before the class. \n\n\n\nPlease join the Institution for Education in Healthcare online with our colleagues from the Bradley Learning Exchange.  \n\n\n\nThis training is designed to provide participants with a brief introduction to the complexities of substance use and overuse. Participants will review concepts such as addiction\, dependence\, and general signs and symptoms of substance use. Learners will have the opportunity to review the four most frequently misused substances\, signs of overdose and useful evidence-based interventions. This training will conclude with sharing information with participants on the stigma and barriers associated with substance use. \n\n\n\nCertificates of completion will be provided to participants. \n\n\n\n\nRegister

SUMMARY:Intimate Partner Violence Training
DESCRIPTION:Intimate Partner ViolenceApril 30 – June 11\, 2025 \n\n\n\nWednesdays\, 6pm-9pmIN-PERSON AT RICThe training covers a range of essential topics\, including ethical considerations\, the role of an advocate\, understanding trauma\, safety planning\, and recognizing the dynamics of IPV. Participants will learn about the dynamics of interpersonal violence including domestic violence\, sexual violence\, and human trafficking\, as well as define and identify human trafficking including labor and sex trafficking. The training explores challenges faced by advocates\, including the ability to recognize vicarious trauma and signs of burnout and to identify three things they can do for self-care. This course meets in-person every Wednesday 6pm-9pm starting April 30 through June 11. In addition to the in-person classes\, there is weekly asynchronous homework.  \n\n\n\nSpace is limited.
