POSITION SUMMARY:

This position includes being a Peer Recovery Specialist, supervising all Peer Recovery Services, and overseeing the Wellness & Recovery Center.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Provide a bridge between providers and adults with serious mental illness. Assist in facilitating the care and well-being of adults receiving services while working on a multidisciplinary team. Have lived experience with behavioral health issues and/or addiction, possess the ability to work and communicate effectively, and have an outgoing and engaging personality to connect with individuals. The position requires one to share lived experience of mental illness and/or addiction (when appropriate), serve as a role model for peers, and share self-help techniques and effective coping strategies. Peer Recovery Specialists will help clients develop natural support systems.

Coordinate, supervise and oversee services that provide peer support to clients in recovery, including Peer Recovery Specialist Services and Peer Support groups and projects that are included in the Community Support Programs (CSP). Develop, monitor, coordinate and supervise activities within the Wellness & Recovery Center (W&R Center). Facilitate the development of friendships among clients served within the Community. Promote greater awareness and acceptance of adults with mental health challenges.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIRED:

Bachelor’s Degree and experience in the human services field.

Certified (completed the training/passed the test)

Understand the principles and philosophy of recovery and the role of peer support services in helping Clients reach recovery goals.

Experience supervising individuals and knowledgeable of reasonable accommodations and recovery/positive psychology focus programs

Ability to participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team

Excellent organizational and communications skills as well as computer skills

Employee will assume full responsibility for the cost and efforts of maintaining any/all forms of licensure, certification, and credentialing documentation as required by his/her position or cited on any action form as a qualification for hiring, job promotion, or monetary increase. Subsequently, the employee will adhere to the credentialing requirements of all insurance/funding sources for which they qualify and provide human resources and/or the credentialing specialist with the

initial required documentation (licenses, liability insurance policies, DEA numbers etc. And all renewal of the documents here after)

Approved driving record with the ability to transport clients.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is primarily provided at the Wellness & Recovery Center (55 John Cummings way, Woonsocket) with the exception of staff who at times provide services and/or transportation to clients in the community and traveling to external meetings as required. Ability to transport clients when required. Ability to communicate effectively in person and in writing with clients, agency staff and external providers/partners, as appropriate. Self-starter, who can attend to multiple tasks effectively, and continually seeks new/better methods to organize/complete work. Able to perform in a fast-paced environment and meet or exceed service levels and targets.
