Summary:
As a member of the prevention team, the Men’s Engagement Coordinator will play a vital role in supporting domestic violence prevention initiatives and executing the State Action Plan to Prevent Domestic Violence. This position involves planning and implementing activities that engage men as allies, including the Ten Men strategy—a statewide prevention initiative funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Additionally, the coordinator will provide support and technical assistance for the Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) federal grant, funded through September 2025.
This role is dedicated to fostering and maintaining strong connections with Ten Men members and alumni, RICADV’s member agencies, organizational partners, and community groups. The coordinator will assist with strategies that enhance community involvement, such as outreach, training, events, and public awareness, with a focus on engaging men.
We encourage people with lived experience in addressing and challenging harmful masculinity norms and behaviors related to gender-based violence with their peers and communities to apply. Our ideal candidate is an individual who has experience fostering environments where men are actively engaged as allies in violence prevention efforts. The Men’s Engagement Coordinator works to advance men’s involvement in preventing violence for all people through gender norms transformation and engaging men and boys in gender-based violence advocacy efforts and movement building.
This is a full-time position based at RICADV’s office in Warwick, Rhode Island. The organization operates on a hybrid schedule, with employees working both remotely and in the office each week. Additionally, all employees contribute to supporting the administrative assistant by answering calls to the office, which may include calls from victims and survivors of domestic violence.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Management and Evaluation:
- ● Recruit, screen, and engage Ten Men members and alumni.
- ● Plan, organize, and facilitate meetings, workshops,
- retreats, and special events.
- ● Support the evaluation of the Ten Men strategy and other
- prevention projects.
- ● Collaborate with the Communications Team to promote men’s engagement strategies.
Community and Partner Engagement:
- ● Develop and sustain strong relationships with Ten Men members, alumni, allied organizations, and community groups.
- ● Engage Ten Men members in community activities and policy efforts.
- ● Lead and facilitate community of practice meetings with OVW grant partners.
- ● Represent RICADV and its mission at statewide committees, community meetings, presentations, and conferences.
- ● Support community engagement efforts by partnering with grant recipients of the Domestic Violence Prevention Fund, a program of RICADV, and collaborating with
RICADV’s member agencies and community partners on initiatives that focus on engaging men and boys in domestic violence prevention.
- ● Provide training and technical assistance on domestic violence prevention and related social justice issues.
- Collaboration and Reporting:
- ● Participate in national webinars, conferences, and activities related to prevention, including those required for the CDC and OVW grant programs.
- ● Handle reporting needs, including internal monthly reports and grant-related content.
Qualifications:
- ● Minimum of three years of relevant experience, such as in non-profit program coordination, community organizing, or related fields.
- ● Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
- ● Strong facilitation, collaboration, and communication skills.
- ● Proficiency in computer skills.
- ● Flexibility for occasional evening/weekend events and local travel.
- ● Commitment to social justice, gender-based violence prevention, and nonviolence.
- ● Experience with men’s engagement initiatives and restorative justice preferred.
- ● Bilingual/bicultural proficiency is a plus.
