CHWARI’s FREE virtual Community Health Worker Core Competency Training is intended to prepare participants for entry-level CHW positions in community-based social service, healthcare and behavioral health settings. Its 12 modules are each aligned with a set of competencies defined by the Rhode Island Certification Board. Each module includes 3 hours of live zoom training plus 3 hours of training activities, for a total of 72 training hours, fulfilling the 70-hour requirement for RI CHW certification. Applicants must be fluent in English.
This CHW Core Training will run over ZOOM on Tuesday evenings, 5:30pm to 8:30pm from May 12-July 28, 2026. *Please note that this training has different weekly hours than some of our past core trainings. This is 3 hours each week of zoom class and 3 hours a week of “homework.”* ATTENDANCE IS REQUIRED AT ALL ZOOM SESSIONS.
