Summary:

Under the direction of the Roger Williams Medical Center Program to Reduce Surgical Care Disparities Director, the Surgical Patient Navigation and Community Outreach Program Coordinator’s primary function is to guide, educate and coordinate cancer related services offered by RWMC to our Hispanic and other underserved populations. The program coordinator will assist in providing language and cultural appropriate information to our Hispanic patients and will coordinate community outreach effort to educate our community about cancer prevention.

Education:   High School Diploma or GED required. Associate’s level degree preferred.

Licensure: Valid Driver’s License required. Access to reliable transportation in order to service off site locations. Car and adequate insurance may be necessary.

Experience: Experience in clinical program development, patient navigation services, or community activity preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong facilitation, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as to function effectively and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Advanced organization skills and ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Excellent command of the English and Spanish language and grammar, both verbal and written.
  • Eligible for Spanish language certification and medical interpreter certification.
  • Proficient with computer applications, a thorough understanding of Microsoft Office suite, internet usage and the ability to learn and master other computer technology / software programs as needed.
  • Excellent follow-through and persistence when communicating with patients and members of our community participating in our programs.
