BUILDING THERAPEUTIC RELATIONSHIPS AND HEALTHY BOUNDARIES

This training will provide an overview and discussion of the ‘nature of helping’ relationships between a healthcare professional and client. It will cover the components and the steps in building such relationships including trust and confidentiality. Various types of verbal and non-verbal communication techniques are reviewed as well as exploring effective engagement strategies. Therapeutic boundaries are discussed and illustrations of potential boundary crossing. Clues clarification and ethics are covered as they relate to the treatment relationship. Concepts of the ‘power differential’ in therapeutic relationships are covered. The use of clinical supervision to manage ‘disclosures/secrets’ and blurring of boundaries will also be covered

Social Worker CEUs: Determination of 2.0 National Association of Social Workers credits are pending.
Chemical Dependency Professionals CEUs: This training has been approved by the RI Certification Board for 2.0 continuing education credits (The RICB is an IC&RC affiliate).
Certified Peer Recovery Specialist CEUs: This training has been approved by the RI Certification Board for 2.0 continuing education credits (The RICB is an IC & RC affiliate).
