Join LCHI to learn about the local certified perinatal workforce, how it is expanding, and the innovative work forces that are seeking to provide complementary and sustaining support to the struggling maternal health care arena in Rhode Island. The discussion will include the certified perinatal doula services, doula referral hotline, lactation programs services, postpartum support initiatives, and information about the new Certified Professional Midwifery Equity Initiative.
Objectives:
- Provide the definition of a doula and their scope of practice
- Review and highlight the community efforts to improve maternal health outcomes
- Describe innovations in community practice, programs, and policies to assist in eliminating maternal health disparities
- Identify current proposed initiatives to reduce maternal health disparities
