Job Summary:

The Family Voices Program Lead works closely with the Policy, Advocacy, and Family Voices Manager to oversee the day-to-day functions and performance of the Family Voices program. The Program Lead also directly supervises a small group of staff and serves as an effective mentor, coach, teacher, and resource, providing regular feedback in the form of one-on-one biweekly meetings with assigned staff. Along with the Manager, the Program Lead serves as a liaison between RIPIN and partner agencies and represents RIPIN at local and state meetings and committees. The Program Lead also supports the Policy, Advocacy, and Family Voices Manager with public policy and advocacy activities.

Essential Functions:

  • Support the Policy, Advocacy, and Family Voices Manager with oversight and coordination of the day-to-day activities of the Family Voices department, including managing multiple projects, ensuring timely and high quality completion of grant deliverables and reports, and supervising staff
  • Provide direct supervision to Community Health Workers, including recruiting, hiring, oversight through regular one-on-one meetings and evaluations of staff performance, support with caseloads as appropriate and documentation
  • Ensure programs and services provided are relevant, coordinated, of high quality, meet member needs, are in compliance with RIPIN standards and meet standards/needs of contractors/funders
  • With support from the Policy, Advocacy, and Family Voices Manager, coordinate the day-to-day functions and performance of the Family Voices program, including RIPIN’s Family-to-Family Health Information Center, convening and facilitating support groups, maintaining the RI Medical Home Portal, soliciting feedback from community members at focus groups and listening sessions, educating and empowering the communities RIPIN serves, convening the Family Voices Leadership Team, and more
  • Support the Policy, Advocacy, and Family Voices Manager with public policy and advocacy activities including organizing and empowering community members, drafting and/or delivering testimony, and communicating internally about RIPIN’s policy priorities
  • Attend local, state, and national conferences and trainings as needed
  • Actively participate as an effective team member in all agency meetings and debriefings. Make constructive use of individual and peer supervision
  • Contribute to the overall success and quality of the agency by working constructively and collaboratively with other staff members ensuring all individuals are treated respectfully and that diversity in backgrounds and life experiences is supported and valued throughout the agency.
  • Accept other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Advanced knowledge of RIs systems of care, including health, education, special education, employment, and basic needs as they apply across a person’s lifecycle
  • High level of leadership skills to effectively support and supervise staff and promote RIPIN mission and vision throughout the agency
  • High level of interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills to interact on a professional level with consumers and professionals
  • Ability to convey complex information in a clear and understandable manner
  • Organizational skills to include managing multiple activities; ability to prioritize projects of varying complexities, ability to meet required timelines
  • Ability to effectively work independently and in collaboration with multiple staff and programs
  • Proficiency in computer and internet navigation (online documents, search engines, government websites), Proficient in Microsoft products, including Microsoft Office Suite, as well as computer skills to maintain and update program related materials, reports, and database
  • Ability to effectively carryout the mission and philosophy of RIPIN and a willingness to work cooperatively and collaboratively with multiple constituents
  • Ability to present to small and large audiences that include consumers, stakeholders, and professionals on RIPIN programs operations, mission, and focus
  • A deep understanding of, commitment to, and ability to carry out the mission, vision, philosophy, and values of RIPIN

Education and Experience:

  • High school graduation or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in related field desired
  • Experience with effective supervision of staff preferred
  • Personal experience navigating social, healthcare, and/or education systems and services for self or family member highly desired
  • Experience working with and outreaching to diverse populations
