Legal Key Partnership for Health and Justice, formerly known as MLPB, supports Rhode Island Community Health Workers by providing training and legal problem-solving consultation to help CHWs detect and meet families’ health-related social needs. Keeping up with the complex landscape of laws and public policies can be challenging and stressful! Legal Key can help you support families in such areas as:
- Accessing safe, stable, and affordable housing
- Securing health-promoting benefits (SNAP, SSI/SSDI, etc.) and understanding how immigration status impacts access to benefits and services
- Maintaining utilities service when shut-off is threatened
- Accessing appropriate special education services
- Navigating DCYF involvement
- Supporting survivors of interpersonal violence and domestic violence
- Helping families with family law related needs (including parentage, custody, divorce, and more)
All CHWs can access MLPB’s Digital Digest, a free resource designed to help navigate complex law and policy changes. The Digest is updated regularly so that you can feel confident that the information you have is up-to-date.
CHWs also can register for the partner-only Unlocking Access Hub to access additional resource guides, one-pagers, and training recordings. If you need assistance creating or accessing your account, you can register here.
