ABOUT US: Sojourner House is a comprehensive domestic violence and sexual assault agency that provides residential, educational, and community-based interventions to families and individuals impacted by abuse. We have offices in Providence and Woonsocket, and programs that operate statewide. Our goal is to help our clients rebuild their lives, piece by piece, through a variety of services. All of our programs work from the premise that violence is an unacceptable means to solving interpersonal conflict, and we encourage only non-violent methods of working out conflicts. 

GENERAL FUNCTION:  In partnership with the Department of Health, the main function of the MOSAIC (MOther’S Advocate In the Community) Intervention Coordinator is to reduce abuse, depression, and death among expecting mothers and new mothers. The person in this role will work with the Department of Health, Women and Infant Hospital, and other community stakeholders to identify victims of IPV and provide case management, referrals, education, training, and technical assistance to our community partners. The MOSAIC Intervention Coordinator will provide case management services to underserved and at-risk populations, and will also recruit, train, and mentor a peer cohort.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Conduct IPV screening among expecting mothers and new mothers who are patients at Women and Infant hospitals
•Provide case management to patients identified as victims of IPV, including monthly home visits for companionship, advocacy, parenting support, and referrals
•Seek and obtain resources for victims of  IPV
•Provide timely referrals to appropriate service agencies, including but not limited to Sojourner House programs, DCYF, law enforcement, DHS, and other social service agencies.
•Provide technical assistance to community partners to ensure that clients are appropriately screened for DV/SA and referred for follow-up services
•Build and maintain relationships with organizations and assist with ongoing outreach efforts to under-represented groups (including expecting and new mothers in the refugee population, undocumented victims, clients in recovery, etc.)
•Participate in the monthly and quarterly RMVMRI (Reduce Maternal Violence and Mortality RI) community-based advisory committee meetings
•Collect monthly survey data
•Recruit and train participants in the MOSAIC peer mentoring program
•Generate quarterly grant reports for funders
•Participate in the program evaluation process with the MOSAIC team
•Facilitate support groups
•Provide assistance with the Sojourner House hotline, and provide support and referrals to clients who are in crisis or seeking resources
•Other related duties as assigned

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
•A minimum of two to three years experience in human or social services;
•Ability to speak English and Spanish fluently (both written and oral)  is required;
•Familiarity with domestic violence, sexual assault, and/or gender-based violence issues;
•Must be organized and detail-oriented;
•Be computer literate (Word, Excel, and general Internet skills);
•Have familiarity working with individuals of different cultures and backgrounds;
•Have experience developing and delivering community presentations;
•Have a demonstrated familiarity with underserved populations;
•Possess the ability to lift 25 pounds;
•Have comfort working individually and in teams;
•Have a familiarity with social service services in Rhode Island;
•Have the ability to work an irregular work schedule (subject to change), including an evening shift during the week;
•Applicant must pass a BCI check.
•Applicant must have reliable access to a vehicle.
