Lifespan & Gateway Healthcare are hiring Vocational Specialists to work with adults managing mental health issues, including substance abuse & co-occurring disorders. This is a community-based position that will require travel statewide. We have several positions available throughout Rhode Island (Johnston, Pawtucket & Charlestown).
Gateway Healthcare provides outstanding treatment, intervention & prevention services to adults & children of all cultural & economic backgrounds with behavioral & substance abuse issues, through its residential, outpatient, and community-based programs.

Responsibilities:
- Identify, develop, and maintain competitive employment opportunities within a multidisciplinary team approach
- Deliver vocational services on an individualized, outreach, and intensive basis
- Provide some case management & crisis intervention, as needed
- Provide on-site training & support to consumers in employment sites
- Provide assistance & support to consumers pursuing educational goals
- Participate as a liaison between consumers, employers, DHS, and staff to promote coordinated service delivery regarding psychiatric, substance abuse, medical, vocational, income maintenance, and social & leisure activities
- Develop & coordinate meaningful vocational plans
- Develop strategies to engage consumers who may be ambivalent about actively seeking employment or risking benefit reduction
- Develop on-site training & placement opportunities, as well as other job development activities
- Provide ongoing assessment, problem solving, side-by-side services, skills training, supervision, and environmental adaptations to assist clients with activities of daily living
Requirements:
- Must obtain RI certification as a Supported Employment Professional (SEP) within 1 year of date of hire
- Must maintain a valid RI license at all times and use of car during normal working hours, or other means of transportation to complete major functions of job.

Shift & Schedule: M-F 8am-4:30pm (Full-Time, 40 hours/week)
