community experiences are not possible.

CHW Training in Cardiovascular Health/Diabetes

Community Health Workers Association of Rhode Island Logo

Community Health Worker ONLINE Training:
Specialty Certification in Cardiovascular Disease/Diabetes Management

Topics include Motivational Interviewing and Social Determinants of Health, Stroke, Heart Disease, Heart Attack, Heart Failure, Atrial Fibrillation, High Blood Pressure, High Cholesterol, Pre-Diabetes, Diabetes, Healthy Eating and Weight Control, Lifestyle Interventions

This training fulfills the educational content hours requirement for the Rhode Island Certification Board’s application for Cardiovascular Health/Diabetes specialty endorsement. There are other components of that application.

plus weekly 1-hour asynchronous lessons

Mini Grant Available!

The Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) is offering mini-grants to Rhode Island organizations to expand the Walk with Ease (WWE) program. WWE is a six week walking program that guides individuals through a participant resource book to engage in walking three times per week. Completers of the program experience increased strength, stability and balance as well as improved self-confidence.

Eligible applicants are community-based organizations that demonstrate capacity to host one WWE program. Mini grants will be offered in amounts up to $1,700. The Walk with Ease Program may be self-directed or group led and must be completed by June 30, 2020.

Mini-grant application deadline is Friday, March 6, 2020 at 4pm.
