This is an exciting time to join our team, with much recent success on expanding voting rights through legislative campaigns and strategic litigation in Rhode Island, and active campaigns underway to further bolster the right to vote.

Responsibilities:

Plan and execute organizing activities to grow, diversify and engage Common Cause Rhode Island’s base of supporters:

Lead online and in-person organizing opportunities for grassroots engagement on our issue campaigns

Lead nonpartisan education and engagement activities on voting rights, election protection activities, and to expand awareness of Common Cause Rhode Island’s work

Collaborate with coalition partners to coordinate grassroots actions and advance campaigns

Support the development of compelling narratives for our campaigns; ensure actions and messaging across platforms reflect our brand and values

Learn, implement, and manage Common Cause Rhode Island digital organizing tools to complement on-the-groundwork

Support with fundraising and in board management:

Support our fundraising efforts, including donor cultivation programs and grants management

Manage donor databases, contact lists, and social media accounts

Support our state board, including research, meeting and other logistics, and the creation of materials for the board

Qualifications:

You will be a good fit for this role if you have:

A strong commitment to Common Cause’s mission and to advancing racial equity through our democracy agenda

Ability to quickly build relationships and credibility with multiple stakeholders from diverse backgrounds

A track record of working collaboratively with others

Outstanding written and oral communication skills

Critical thinking skills, and a resourceful approach to problem-solving

Strong organization skills, and an ability to manage your time independently

Openness to feedback and awareness of your own strengths and areas for growth

Familiarity with Rhode Island politics is preferred, though not required

The following is required:

Ability to work in our office in Providence, RI at least two days per week

Ability to travel in-state regularly

Experience managing volunteers or others (in-person or online)

Experience working on an issue-based campaign

Knowledge of social media tools (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram), basic design tools, and office productivity tools (Microsoft Office, Google Docs, Slack, Zoom)

Candidates may not currently be in elected office or running for office

Salary Range: $60,000 – $65,000, plus generous benefits package
